The Holistic Clinic

My aim.

I want to create an environment where holistic therapy is not an extension of everyday life, but seen more as a necessary part of life. It is seen by so many as a luxury or and 'expense' but can you really put a price on good health and well being......?

My holistic clinic is designed completely as a bespoke service without the bespoke price!

Whether it is a treatment once every six months as a complete overhaul for your body and mind, or a monthly or even weekly treatment during times of apprehension, anxiety or stress.

The consultation part of our clinic is free of charge, as too many holistic therapies are little known so its hard to know what would suit an individual's specific health complaints if any, or any other personal circumstances.

The clinic is made up of a group of highly qualified therapists, with a vast experience in their individual field's. I have total confidence in their gifts and skill's, and I know you will too after just one treatment with them.

So instead of thinking it's just something you will eventually get round to doing.

Do your body, mind and soul a favour!

The Power of Traditional Aromatherapy

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for their exquisite aromas and natural healing powers. Rich in essential nutrients and antioxidants, plant oils encourage radiant, healthy skin, working at a cellular level to keep the complexion soft and looking youthful. By harnessing their therapeutic properties, aromatherapy works to improve our physical, mental and emotional well being. Linked to the areas of the brain governing instinct, memory and emotion, our sense of smell is the most primitive of our senses. Through the pathways between smell and the deep centers of the brain, essential oils can have a dynamic effect on our emotional state. They can help transform our moods and move us from one state of mind to another.

The Physical Benefits

Essential oils are made up of very small molecules, which means they can easily enter the blood stream, bringing their unique healing properties to every cell of the body. They are used to help ease muscular aches and pains, improve circulation and ease sinus congestion. They also have a positive effect on the skin, penetrating into the deeper layers to encourage the process of cellular renewal, enhance blood circulation and help problems such as acne, eczema and aging skin.

Auricular Therapy (Hopi ear candles)

Originating from the Hopi Indians of North America the ear candle is made of a combination of woven cotton and pure beeswax which can then have herbal extracts added to boost its healing and cleansing properties.

Hopi Ear Candles can help with:

  • Tinitus, compacted ear wax and glue ear

  • Sore throats and hay fever

  • Headache and migraine

  • Rhinitis and sinusitis

  • Catarrh and asthma

  • Regulation of pressure in ears and head

Raindrop Technique Aromatherapy

This is one of the most exciting and innovative aromatherapy treatments being practised throughout the world today. It is a truly incredible technique and has been developed as a result of inspiration from the traditions of the Lakota Indians. This native tribe travelled into Canada to experience the great wonders of the Northern Lights 'Aurora Borealis', as they believed the light from this spectacle assisted great healing to take place. They would draw this light up their spines and allow it to fill their bodies, minds and spirits. Once the border between America and Canada was created, they could no longer carry out this healing journey and so they developed a technique using feathers on the spine to mimic the light and energy flow.

Raindrop Technique is a direct descendant of this practice, using pure, organic, therapeutic grade essential oils of the highest quality - those of Young Living Essential Oils. This is the key to the success of Raindrop - the purity and quality of these wonderful plant extracts. The founder of Young Living, Gary Young, was inspired after speaking to a Lakota Indian named Wallace Black Elk, who explained the tradition of the Lakota people during the Aurora Borealis. Gary later developed the Raindrop Technique and the ten specific essential oils used during the treatment.

Shiatsu Massage

The word "shiatsu" means "finger pressure". This translation describes its main technique, which involves putting pressure on specific spots on an energy channel (called a meridian in Chinese medicine) to help improve the flow of energy through that channel. But this is a very simplified explanation; the actual techniques used can include patting, shaking, pinching, rolling, vibrating, plucking and in some instances just holding an area for a time. And a shiatsu treatment can also include assisted stretching.

Shiatsu as a form of Asian medicine is a holistic treatment, designed to balance all the body's systems. But in the West we tend to think more of "illness" than "wellness". Some of the problems that shiatsu can be used to treat are headaches, back pain, insomnia, constipation and many stress-related complaints. It is used with caution when the client has a more serious illness like heart disease, cancer, or osteoporosis, although it has proven to be helpful in some of these situations. It can be used to treat children, seniors and pregnant women as well (although there are areas that are avoided when working with someone who is pregnant).

Thai Traditional Massage- Wat Pho Style

The benefits of Thai massage are numerous, with the most predominant being the maintenance of good health and the ability to treat a wide spectrum of health concerns. Traditional Thai massage is known for its ability to clear the energy pathways.

The following are some of the benefits of traditional Thai massage.

  • increases flexibility and range of movement

  • eliminates muscle pain and muscle spasms

  • improves postural alignment

  • calms the nervous system and promotes a deep sense of relaxation with an increased energy level

  • allows for a significant release of deep, emotional distress

  • stimulates blood circulation and lymph drainage

  • stimulates internal organs

  • relieves fatigue, swollen limbs, painful joints, and headaches

Thai massage looks like a cross between acupressure, yoga, and zen shiatsu and is inspired by Buddhist teachings. The actual massage consists of slow, rhythmic compressions and stretches along the body's energy lines, also called sen in Thai. Over 70,000 sen are said to exist within the body, and Thai massage concentrates on applying pressure along 10 of the most important sen, using the palms of the hands, thumbs, elbows, and feet. The effort from the practitioner works to free tension within the body. Practitioners also position the body into yoga-like poses and gently rock the body to open the joints and facilitate limbering.

Reflexology

Reflexology is derived from an ancient healing technique thought to have been practiced by early Indian, Chinese and Egyptian peoples. It involves treatment by applying specific pressure to reflex areas found in the feet and, to a lesser extent, the hands.

According to practitioners, every part of the body is reflected in a precise area, or reflex point, on the feet and hands. It is believed that illness, injury or disease can result in granular accumulations around these reflex points, which then block vital energy pathways. Treatment aims to break down these deposits in order to free the body's natural energy flow, to open blocked nerve pathways and to improve the blood supply in order to flush away toxins.

Reflexology is thought to bring relief to a wide range of conditions, including migraine, hormonal imbalances, circulatory problems, digestive problems, back problems, tension, insomnia and stress-related disorders.
